Renovating Your New Homes Kitchen

By: Robert Warren

Believe it or not, the kitchen and bathroom are two of the top renovation areas when it comes to renovating a home. Whatever budget you have, planning a 15 to 20% contingency and doing research is important. It is always best to be under budget and not over budget.

Think when it comes to the kitchen what will have the biggest effect. Often times things like cabinets can really make a big difference when it comes to the look of a kitchen. You can also look into floors but that can be a lot more costly.

You also need to consider if you will be bringing in professionals for your projects. That will be a lot more costly. Will you be hiring a contractor? Will you be hiring a designer? These are all things you need to think about.

If you hire a professional you need to do your research too. Ask for examples of their past work. See what the communication flow is like. How is the payment arrangement going to look? Do your research.

With big projects like renovations always plan ahead. The sooner you can start saving the better. Use that time you are saving to get inspired and look at things that you would like in your kitchen to improve the look.

When you start looking at renovating too consider accessibility. That cabinet you are installing, how high is it going to be? How easy is it to open? Which way do you want the door? All things to consider.

You can also look into technology. Is there any new technology you like that you think will incorporate to improve your cooking or family experience? What are the lights like in the kitchen? Just things to consider in the renovation.

However, if you decide to renovate make this home yours. You are going to be here awhile. Plan ahead and budget. Find what makes this place home.
