The Town of Westlake, known as the place where the cross timbers met the prairie, holds tales of settlers from the Peters Colony, Indian treaties signed by Sam Houston, tremendous archaeological treasures, and some of the oldest settlements in North Texas. History
The area known as Westlake was originally settled in 1847 by Charles and Matilda Medlin with about 20 other families. In the mid-twentieth century, what is now Westlake was known as Circle T Ranch, a 2,000 acre ranch founded by Dallas attorney and oilman J. Glenn Turner. When incorporated in the late 1950s, the name Southlake, Texas already existed, so ranchers and homeowners took the name Westlake.
Location
Nestled in the DFW Metroplex, Westlake is a Gold Level Scenic City and home to several corporate campuses as well as many small independent businesses including the Deloitte University campus, a 750,000 square-foot learning and leadership development center. Other developments in Westlake include Solana, a high profile corporate campus which includes CoreLogic (formerly First American Real Estate Information Services Inc.), Fidelity Investments North Texas Campus, and recently announced Charles Schwab corporate campus expected to house 2,500 to 5,000 employees in the next few years.
