Hickory Creek is a town in Denton County, Texas, United States, located 30 miles (48 km) north of downtown Dallas. The population of Hickory Creek has grown from 219 at its incorporation in 1963 to 3,247 at the 2010 census. It is also one of the 4 communities in the Lake Cities.

History

Hickory Creek is located west of Interstate 35E about eight miles southeast of Denton in southeastern Denton County. Named for the nearby creek, the community developed in the 1960s and incorporated by 1969. In 1970 the population was 218, but that figure increased dramatically during the next decade to 1,422 in 1980
